Celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was established by the Executive Order of the President of the Russian Federation dated April 25, 2018 No. 177 and took place throughout the whole 2020 year. The Directorate was selected the operator for staging festive celebrations dedicated to the memorable date.
The centenary anniversary of the Republic has united all residents and made it possible to deeper immerse in the history of its development and growth, and also became a remarkable event in the history of our country. Despite the restrictions related to the spread of coronavirus infection, a lot of significant socially desirable infrastructure and cultural facilities were opened, 14 thousand various events run in online and offline formats reaching 9.5 million people. All republican ministries and departments, municipalities, scientific and educational organisations, enterprises, public organisations, multiple federal ministries and departments were involved in the arrangements. Besides, commemorative coins, postage stamps, trademark certificates, and merchandise were timed to coincide with the celebration.

Flag relay of the TASSR’s 100th anniversary formation
The Directorate jointly with the Executive Committee of the World Congress of Tatars delivered an exclusive large-scale project “Flag Relay of the 100th anniversary of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic formation”.
The project comprised Russian and republican legs. Within the Russian leg, the flag visited all 8 federal districts of the Russian Federation, where, as part of the festive events, there were applied 69 patches depicting the flags of the subjects, in which the regional national and cultural autonomies of the Tatars were registered. Moreover, 45 republican municipalities organised solemn ceremonies of honouring the flag with the application of the regions patches-coats of arms. The relay concluded on August 29, 2020 with the arrival of the flag of the 100th anniversary of the Tatar ASSR formation in Kazan.
