Members of the preparatory mission in view of the preparation of the 45th session of the World Heritage Committee to be held in Kazan from 19 to 30 June 2022 visited the Tatarstan’s capital on 7-8 December 2021. Over 2 days, they examined the main venues of the upcoming session (particularly the Kazan EXPO International Exhibition Centre) and had a meeting with the leadership of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Let us recall that the upcoming Committee’s session in Kazan will mark the 50th anniversary of the 1972 World Heritage Convention and is projected to be one of the most extensive editions. The Session will be held in conjunction with the four international events oriented to engage the youth into the heritage preservation: World Heritage Site Managers Forum (Kazan), Youth Model of the World Heritage Committee (Kazan), World Heritage Young Professionals Forum on the premises of the Saint Petersburg Mining University, and World Heritage Thematic Children’s Session (All-Russian Orlyonok Children’s Centre, Krasnodar region). Teleconferencing is slated between the participants of the children’s programme and delegates of the 45th session. The overarching theme “Intercultural dialogue as an imperative for the world heritage preservation” will embrace all of the events.
