The sports phygital season of 2023 starts on February 5. Opening the season is the third series of the Phygital Games in three e-sports challenges: tactical, battle and speedrun.

Speedrun competitions

Dates: 5 – 8 February

Teams: Four teams of three athletes

The competitions will see each athlete compete in speedrunning playing video games both on retro consoles and on modern PCs. The competitors are in for legendary adventure games such as “Super Mario bros”, “Comix Zone” and “Chip’n’Dale”, horror games “Resident evil 2 Remake”, “Little Nightmares”, “Mirror’s Edge” along with “Hitman: Codename 47”, “Quake” and “Serious Sam The First encounter”. The team of competitors that scores the most points by completing the missions the fastest will win. Once this phase of the competitions is over, the teams will face off in a laser tag show match. Winning in this show match will earn the competitors extra prizes. The outcome of this match will have no impact on the points of the e-sports part of the tournament.

Battle challenge, a competition in MOBA games

Dates: 6 – 8 February

Teams: Four teams of seven athletes

This February will also see competitions in the popular games of Dota 2 and MLBB (“Mobile Legends: Bang Bang”). The teams will compete in the matches according to the Olympic system while following the rules of e-sports. Once the e-competitions are over, much like with Speedrun, the teams will face off in a laser tag show match.

Tactical Challenge

Dates: 9-10 February

Teams: four teams of seven

The Tactical Challenge will involve phygital athletes showcasing their skills in the world-famous games of CS:GO and Warface and then they will move on to compete against each other in a lasertag.

The digital part of the challenge will have the teams first facing off against each other on the console. Winning each round of the match will earn one point. The next part of the challenge is a physical one — a five-on-five laser tag match in the format of “Setting a phygital flame”. A victory in a round of this discipline earns a team two points.  If it is a tie, the athlete who scores more frags during the two stages, wins.

Battle Royale lasertag show match

Date: 11 February

Teams: squads of four people

The Phygital Games will wrap up with a laser tag show match in CS:GO and Warface between the competitors. The laser tag match mirrors battle royale PC gaming rules (as in PUBG, Fortnite, etc.) as much as possible featuring narrowing action zones and collection of items.

The Phygital Games will be broadcast via the channels of “The Games of Future” project as well as on https://vkplay.ru/VK Play and https://vk.com/gamesofutureVK. To follow the competitions, one can go to  https://gof.vkplay.ru/.
