Kazan is to stage the Russian Swimming Championships 2020 at its Aquatics Palace on October 25–30. More than 700 Russia’s strongest swimmers, including Anton Chupkov, Vladislav Grinev, Andrey Minakov, Oleg Kostin, Ilya Borodin, Grigory Tarasevich, Martin Malyutin, Vyacheslav Andrusenko, Mikhail Dovgalyuk, Daria Vaskina, Evgenia Chikunova, Maria Temnikova, Tatiana Belonogoff, Daria Mullakaeva, Daria Chikunova, Valeria Salamatina and many more, will swim in the lanes of the 50m pool as part of the key national sporting event of the year.  In additions, athletes specializing in open water swimming – Kirill Abrosimov, Kirill Belyaev, Ruslan Sadykov, Valeria Ermakova, Ekaterina Sorokina, Yana Kurtseva and others – qualified for the Russian Championships.

The Russian swimming championships is open to foreign athletes. Athletes from Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Turkmenistan and Macedonia submitted their entries.

According to the decision of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), the Russian Swimming Championships are a qualifying competition to meet the eligibility requirements for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2021. The championships will also feature the Courage Race organized for children with disabilities.

The event’s opening ceremony will take place at 17:45 October 25. Preliminary heats are to start at 09:00, semifinal and final heats at 18:00, and on October 30 at 17:00.

The Russian Championships final and semifinal heats will be streamed live on the All-Russian Swimming Federation’s official website.

Spectators can buy tickets on the website https://kassir.ru/ and at the ticket offices of the Kassir.ru ticket operator in Kazan. Ticket sale at the Aquatics Palace ticket office will start October 23.

The overall organization and staging management for the Russian Swimming Championships is provided by the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, Directorate for Sports and Social Projects and the All-Russian Swimming Federation.

The event will be carried out with the support of Gazprom, URALCHEM, SUEK, Russian Post, Best Water Technology and Arena.
