Today Martin Malyutin from the Omsk Oblast took the gold medal in the 200 m freestyle with the result of 1:46.10 at the Russian Swimming Championships.
Yesterday, on the opening day of the competition, he finished last in the 400 m freestyle. “It was easier today, I made up for it. After all, 200 meters is my favourite distance, yesterday it was more harder,” said Martin Malyutin after the swim. The Omsk athlete has completed his programme at the championships. “I’m leaving today. I will recover from the illness, train a little and come into form,” the champion commented on his plans.
Mikhail Dovgalyuk from Moscow (1:46.16) finished second in the 200 m swim, Aleksandr Shchegolev from St. Petersburg (1:46.57) took third.
In the women’s 50 m butterfly, the win was taken by Evgeniya Chikunova from St. Petersburg (31.05). Silver went to another representative of St. Peterburg, Mariya Temnikova (31.66). Elena Bogomolova from the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast (31.76) took bronze.
In the women’s 100 m backstroke, the best result was demonstrated by Darya Vaskina from Moscow (1:00.16). The second time of 1:01.34 was set by Aleksandra Kurilkina from St, Petersburg. Elizaveta Chmykhova from Moscow was third at the finish line (1:01.36).
