Oleg Kostin from the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast won his second medal at the Russian Swimming Championships today. He came first the men’s 50m butterfly race with the result of 22.82. Earlier, the swimmer got bronze in the 100m event.
“I am quite happy with both 100m and 50m. In the 50m, there was something I did not like, I should have used longer strokes at the finish, but the result is generally good at the moment,” said Oleg Kostin. “I wanted to complete the competitions with a good result and have a chance to relax a bit, as I got emotionally exhausted.”
Andrei Minakov from St. Petersburg won silver (23.22). Alexander Sadovnikov from the Volgograd Oblast got bronze (23.47).
In the women’s 50m backstroke, Daria Vaskina from Moscow was first (28.13). As was reported earlier, she won the 100m backstroke race on Day 2 and captured gold in 50m butterfly the day before.
“I am going somewhat heavy; I have not reached my peak form yet. Too many events… It is challenging,” said the swimmer. “Usually, in the evening everything recedes into the background. You get a medal and leave the podium… It gives you a boost for the days to come, and you continue working.”
Aleksandra Kurilkina from St. Petersburg took the second place (28.44). Marina Kravchenko from the Penza Oblast closed the winning circle (28.62).
