The Spring Thaw All-Russian Fencing Tournament, a traditional national fencing competition for boys and girls aged 12-15, was held in Kazan between May 22 and 27. The Kazan Equestrian Complex Indoor Hall played stage to the competition.
120 aspiring fencers came together to compete for medals. The tournament brought together athletes from the Republic of Tatarstan, Saratov Oblast, Ulyanovsk Oblast, Samara Oblast. Four gold, four silver and eight bronze medals were up for grabs every day. 33 judges oversaw the tournament.
The fencing judges seminar also took place on the sidelines of the Spring Thaw All-Russian Fencing Tournament. Representatives of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Russian Fencing Federation, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate attended the seminar.
