A presentation of the International multisport games of the BRICS member states was held within the framework of the Russia – China International Forum; the Games are scheduled to take place in Kazan from 12 June to 23 June 2024. Competitions in 25 sports are expected to be held along with the participation of 3,000 athletes from the BRICS countries and other states.
Acting Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan Ildar Sadriev told about the infrastructure of Kazan, which will be used for the organization of the Games, and also emphasised the readiness of the city to host major international sports competitions.
“Kazan is the sports capital of Russia. The city has a wealth of experience in organising sporting events. We have all required sports venues, so I dare say that we are ready for the BRICS Sports Games and hope to see the same commitment from our other colleagues,” commented Ildar Sadriev.
Zhang Dali, Deputy Head of the China-Tatarstan Scientific Centre at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Director of the SCO-Digital Technologies LLC, expressed his confidence that the BRICS Sports Games will play a vital role in the relations between the member countries of the alliance.
“The BRICS Games are an event that can unite all BRICS countries. Every year this alliance is growing, while increasing its influence in the world. The BRICS Games will help bring the countries together even closer. Sport is very important for all countries. It is possible to cooperate even without speaking the same language. Such events should be arranged for Russia, China, and other countries. I expect to see a lot of teams at these games,” said Zhang Dali.
According to Ildar Sadriev, cooperation between Russia and China in the field of sports will benefit both countries.
“Sport is a bridge that unites. Even if communication is challenging, athletes can always agree and understand each other. We are ready to cooperate, ready to host Chinese students, to adopt the experience of our colleagues. The Beijing Olympics showed that sport in this country is developing very quickly. It was nice to learn about the willingness of the Chinese people to cooperate with Russia in the development of esports and phygital sports. We hope that today’s communication will give a new impetus to the development of sports,” emphasized the Acting Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The first Russia – China International Forum is taking place on 7-8 September 2023, at the Kazan Expo IEC.
