The first day of the speedrun competition was marked by the e-sports teams of King of Milfs, speedXATA, the Cheaters and Tesla Squad struggling with bugs and glitches, dropping outside the map, shooting right under their own feet along with other crazy things; all for the sake of setting a record.

The Speedrun competitions opened the Phygital Games-3 in the e-sports disciplines.

The teams competed to show who was the “fastest cowboy in the village” in three consecutive games and all at once: Chip’n’Dale, Mirror’s Edge and Hitman: Codename 47. In the Retro Console category, runner Nail st4nzzz Bopezhanov from the speedXATA team scored the best result in Chip’n’Dale, a cult game based on the animated series “Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers”

The competitors in the next game – the parkour action Mirror’s Edge – divided into two pairs of outsiders and leaders so the intrigue remained until the very last minutes.

How are the prizes going to be allocated?

Player Dmitry Filonot Novichkov, kept the lead during the first half of the run despite the fact that Aleksey Dogmeats Shabalin was the favorite. However, during the last stages Fil made an unfortunate mistake which gave Dog the lead. The winner completed the entire game in less than an hour!!! (56 min 40 sec).

“I’d been preparing for this for two and half months and it took me less than an hour to complete game. But it’s designed to be completed in eight hours. This makes me quite an achiever— My mom raised me this way. My opponent was also great in his performance. I was experiencing the shivers right up until the very last seconds. I still have them. My victory comes down to pure skill, hand motor skills and muscle memory. And things like that can’t be uploaded on a flash drive,” said DOGMEATS (Alexey Shabalin), the winner in the second discipline of the Speedrun group stage of Phygital Games 3 when asked about Mirror’s Edge.

The end of the day was marked by fierce competition. The social stealth action Hitman, to the delight of everyone, proved to be full of different strategies and multiple random playthroughs. Experienced speedrunner Valdemar Valdemarka Shkola, a world-record holder from the speedXATA team, tried to “make history” again. He may have been accidentally logged out of the game a couple of times, but each time he came back with style and was the first to get to the closing credits of the game.

“I was logged out of the game twice. May have been because of the game’s engine or a short streak of poor luck but the Realgame timer helped the judges compensate me for the lost time. This game is very easy to me. Every time I start playing, it feels thrilling throwing yourself into it. I own this game, you know, as I hold the world’s record”, commented Valdemarka (Valdemar), the winner in the third discipline of the Speedrun group stage of Phygital Games-3, on Hitman.

On the eve of the semifinals, the speedXATA team is now only two points ahead of the Cheaters.

Tomorrow, we will be in for more breathtaking speedruns and enjoy as learn more about speedrunning tricks in Comix Zone, Little Nightmares and Serious Sam the First Encounter.
