Demonstration and qualifying rounds were held at the First All-Russian Urban Games on 21 September, Saturday, and first winners were determined in some events.
The opening day of the First All-Russian Urban Games featured demonstration performances in parkour, rope skipping and teqball, as well as qualifications rounds and finals in other disciplines. From early morning competition participants began to compete for medals and excite their fans with intense matches and spectacular stunts. During interviews, competitors highly praised the Uram Extreme Park, and, despite the windy weather, they thanked the organizers of the Games and told their stories of why they chose this or that extreme sport.
“The conditions are excellent; the atmosphere is very pleasant. Everything is great. There are athletes everywhere, everyone supports each other. I’ve been dancing for 11 years now, I really like the competitive spirit. The opponents in Kazan are good; I will do my best to pursue success. And my plans for the future are to get the master of sport category in cheerleading,” said Tatiana, an athlete from Ivanovo, who represents the Zador Sports Dance School.
“I came from the Perm region; and I have never seen such a high level of competition. I liked Kazan very much. I will definitely come to such competitions next time. In football freestyle, I love the style when you hit the right beat. It looks very beautiful, even breathtaking,” said freestyler Aleksandr.
“Kazan has a great venue; everything is very well organized. In parkour, I like accessibility. You can express yourself and develop. A tip for beginners in parkour – start with easy stunts, get physical. Do not try to immediately perform difficult stunts, ”said Ruslan from Kazan, a participant in the parkour competition.
“The Urban Games are great. I started doing break dance four years ago. I saw boys and girls dancing on the street, and I liked it. There’s a tip for beginners – listen to your coach and do sports,” shared her impressions Maria from Saratov, participant of the break dnace competition.
“Teqball is very entertaining; the game is played at high speed. The technical skill is very important. You can’t play without it. And in Kazan everything is awesome. The organization is excellent,” said Anna from Moscow.
And the first medals of the 2020 All-Russian Urban Games were awarded in he roller sport (skate cross) event. The medal ceremony was hosted by Sergey Zyulkov, Vice President of the Russian Roller Sports Federation. Anna Volokitina from Moscow won gold in the girls’ category, while another participant frim Moscow, Mikhail Kutuzov, became first in the boys’ category (10 to 14 years).
