The tournament in the first discipline of the Tactical challenge of Games of the Future ended on Saturday, February 24, at the Kazan Tennis Academy. The strongest VK PLAY: Warface + Laser Tag team was Young, who defeated HLS in the final. Winstrike took the third place.
According to the rules of the discipline, in the case of a 2:0 score in the playoffs, the physical stage is not held after the digital part. And on the final day of the competition, the competitors did it without Laser Tag.
Finals
Young vs. HLS – 2:0
The first map started with the advantage of Young, who took the first four rounds. With the score 9:5, HLS gave away two clutches, losing the map. Young started the second map even more confidently – 9:0! Further, the final success became a matter of technique, which was enough for the “young” to spare – 11:5.
“Young is head and shoulders above all other teams. They are opening a new era. Our minimum task was to get out of the group. I’m happy because for the first time in my career I got to the finals. We tried to win one map so that we could then fight in Laser Tag, where we would have good chances, but it didn’t work out,” admitted HLS player Nikita “Kesto” Zadoinov. “All the top Warface teams gathered at Games of the Future. This is by far the best tournament of my career. When we sat on the stage and saw how many spectators there were, we were shocked. We felt energized when the fans chanted the name of our team.”
“In the final, HLS made a mistake with the peaks and bans of the maps. We outplayed them tactically, and we were good at shooting. Honestly, we didn’t want to bring it to Laser Tag, but we were ready for that. We analyzed their games, watched replays. While there are no emotions, they will come along with awareness in a couple of days. This victory means a lot to the whole squad. We noticed that we take either first or third place in tournaments. At the last one before Games of the Future, we became the third, so it was as if we already knew that we would take the championship here,” said Svyatoslav “Feiber” Kuznetsov from Young. “At Games of the Future, I felt that the whole Warface scene had reached a new level. I hope there will be more tournaments with the same approach to organization as here.”
3d-4th place match
Winstrike vs. Antayd – 2:0
Winstrike seized the advantage from the beginning, with the score 4:1, the ace was made by Zamir “Tarrega” Aslanov. After that, the round ended with a major victory – 11:4. This defeat seriously complicated the task for Antayd, who have repeatedly stated that they rely only on the digital part. They needed to pick up the second map, and they started vigorously, went smoothly to the score of 9:9. The ending remained after Winstrike – 11:9.
“The game went without a chance for Antayd. We closed down their leader, and everyone, although they have not yet recovered from the defeat in the semi-finals, only calmed down a little. For us, the third place is not a very good result. But we did everything we could. A miracle happened against Young. Never in the history of the Warface scene has there been such an impressive comeback. This could only happen at Games of the Future,” sighed Winstrike coach Nikita “MiningOfLife” Zherebtsov. “I think Games of the Future is at the level of the best tournaments in the history of Warface. We want to take part in the next Games as well.”
“In any case, it’s a shame to lose, nevertheless, the fourth place in such a big tournament is a great result. We have something to strive for, we have made a lot of conclusions for ourselves. It’s doubly disappointing because we got out of the group of death, but then lost where we shouldn’t have. We aimed for the first place. We regret that we spent little time preparing the Laser Tag,” said Antayd player Maxim “Dontkusmi” Vakulov. “Games of the Future is the coolest, largest–scale tournament. The preparation is visible, I was very pleased with everything. I hope the phygital format will continue to develop and become a very popular trend. We want to participate in the next Games, we will work on the mistakes.”
