The final day of the Phygital Games – 3 was marked by laser tag show matches which brought against each other CS:GO (Windingo) and Warface (Winstrike, Awinaw, Repulse and MementoMori) teams also involving some of the visitors. The new format of Battle Royale involved a total of ten teams of two players each.
Here’s how it worked out?
The Awinaw 1 team took the first place in the show match among the phygital athletes earning the Phygital Flame trophy and a cash prize. Maksim DontKus’Me Vakulov and Sergey Airborn Asvaturyan scored 137 points over five rounds and finished ahead of the Repulse 1 team (Leonid -K4pitanPanika- Pozdnyakov and Artur Plushevoyemyaso Zhabinets) which added up 127 points. The third place was taken by MementoMori 2 (Leonid Kseno Volkov and Vyacheslav Ku3.14 Petrogradsky).
“Overwhelming emotions. I still can’t believe it. I thought we would take tenth place, but we won. This is a miracle. I liked the “Battle Royale” format a lot more. It was much harder. There are more players in it so you have to think of ways to counteract. Everyone was counting on their own skills. It also involved more shooting. Organization-wise, it is ten on a scale from one to ten,” said Sergey Airborn Asvaturyan from Awinaw 1.
“I have only positive emotions from the Phygital Games. I didn’t expect the tournaments to be organized so well and to go off so perfectly. I’m stunned. It’s enough to make anybody want to take part in phygital tournaments. At first I thought that “digital” and “physical” were incompatible. However, when we were playing laser tag, we relied on actions and tactics from video games and it really helped! We all need to work out physically. To do sports!” – Maksim DontKus’Me Vakulov concluded.
The show matches also featured Olympic diving champion Ilya Zakharov and his wife Nadezhda, representatives of e-sports organizations, bloggers Marat and Azat Kashapovs and multiple reporters.
“It felt just great! The phygital format has immense prospects. Emotions are overwhelming me. We played four rounds, and that’s forty minutes of hard physical activity. Me and my wife, we haven’t played laser tag for ten years. Before the game, we made some arrangements and then we made decisions as we went along right on the range. It’d be great to play phygital stuff with various athletes. Just to test my strength both on field and phygitally. That sound like a wonderful idea!” said Ilya Zakharov.
“I loved it. It goes without saying. The Battle Royale really took the cake for me. It really makes you strategize in a new way. When there’re two teams playing, the game starts at the rear and goes to the base of the enemy. In this format, though, you have to take care not only of your rear, but you also have to watch yourself. Your brain is forced to work faster. I appreciate the laser tag range. It is pretty big. Easy to lose your way if it’s your first time playing. The audio-visual effects, too. When the map shrinks and the infected area flashes red, the audio effects totally immerse you into the game,” shared blogger Azat Kashapov.
What is the difference between the “Battle Royale” and the “Phygital Flame Activation” matches?
There are ten teams on the range; each has two athletes. The players are offered to choose from a broad range of weapons. Each gun has its own individual settings. During the match the playing space shrinks which makes the players to make decisions even faster and take chances.
The match has four rounds. To secure victory, players of the same team have to deactivate all opponents and be the last men standing on the range. Scores are added up based on the total of all the four rounds.
