Today, FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu, President of the Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov, Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects Maksim Denisov and others discussed the issues of Kazan’s collaboration with FINA during an online meeting.
Cornel Marculescu pointed out that Kazan is “a home to the FINA family” and that the legs of the FINA Swimming World Cup are to be held in the capital of Tatarstan through to 2024.
FINA highly commends the activities and achievements of the FINA Development Centre in Kazan. Soon it will have new scholarship recipients as well as coaches.
The participants also discussed the preparation for two other world championships to be held under the auspices of FINA in Kazan. They include the 2022 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) and the 2025 World Aquatics Championships. According to the meeting participants, the preparation for the championships will be carried out within the framework of the cooperation between FINA, Russian Swimming Federation, Russian Sports Ministry, Tatarstan Republic’s Sports Ministry and the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects.
