The Second All-Russian Urban Games have kicked off in the URAM Extreme Park in Kazan. On July 10-11, the participants will be competing for 63 sets of medals in 6 sports.
At the start of the Opening, Deputy Director of the Department for physical culture and mass sport of the Russian Ministry of Sport Irina Praskanova extended greetings to the participants from the Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin.
“Dear friends, on behalf of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation and myself I am greeting the participants, organisers and guests of the Second All-Russian Urban Games. Among the priority goas of our government are population’s joining in regular physical and sports activities. This is what the Sport is the Norm of Life federal project is aimed at. Staging the Urban Games will be contributing to the growing number of competitive and spectator sports, attracting and bringing talented youth to healthy motor activity.”
I am confident that these competitions will be staged at the high-standard level and be remembered by a friendly atmosphere that Tatarstan invariably displays while hosting different competitions. I wish the participants of the Second Urban Games breathtaking emotions, vivid impressions and well-deserved victories. “
Tatarstan Minister of Youth Affairs Damir Fattakhov has noted that Kazan is happy to host such a festival of sport.
“We are proudly telling about the URAM Park – site that was invented, built and now is being managed by the Tatarstan’s youth. There would not be a park without them. We are glad that the Second Urban Games are held in Kazan! Many thanks to our friends from the Ministry of Sport of Russia and Tatarstan, to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov for the support of our initiative in this challenging period. Let the strongestwin in this festival of sport that makes us happy.”
Tatarstan’s Deputy Minister of Sport Ildar Sadriev was hopeful about keeping the tradition to hold the Urban Games.
“The Tatarstan’s government is doing a lot for the citizens to do sports. Games staging in Kazan speaks to the fact that this is the most sportive region of the country. Only alga (Eng. “forward”), never look back.”
The Deputy of the State Duma, Merited coach of Russia Olga Pavlova has wished the best of luck to the biker Irek Rizaev who is about to represent Russia at the Olympics in Tokyo.
“A couple of years ago it was hard to believe that break dance, skateboarding or basketball 3×3 would supplant Olympic sports. But this is what the youth is up for now, and it forms the Olympic programme. In Tokyo, I will be cheering up for Irek Rizaev, who I believe, will clinch an award for Tatarstan and Russia. I thank you all for doing sports and wish bright emotions.”
In addition, the Deputy Director General of the Lokomotiv Russian physical culture society Aleksey Khomyakov delivered a welcoming speech and congratulated the participants on the Games opening.
