At Games of the Future the Liga Stavok Phygital Hockey ended on Friday, February 23. Liga Pro Team became the champion, Cosmos X17 took the second place, Ak Bars took the third. Eight teams took part in the competition, which included athletes from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Moldova, Russia, Slovakia, the USA, Uzbekistan, the Czech Republic and Estonia.

The final day of the tournament was opened by legendary Russian hockey players Danis Zaripov, Alexander Semin, Sergey Mozyakin and Vasily Koshechkin, who held an autograph session. The Ice Arena was sold out, and during the matches, the spectators did not stop supporting their favorite teams.

Final game

Liga Pro Team vs. Cosmos X17 – 4:3 (3:0), by shootout

The Liga Pro players were better in the hockey simulator, but they failed to create a solid advantage. The opponents started the physical part with the score 3:0, which in digital format does not give any guarantees. The Cosmos X17 players soon confirmed this. Despite the presence of the experienced Pavel Zdunov in the lineup, Liga Pro did not score a single goal! Their opponent quickly reduced the gap to a minimum, and in the final period equalized the score. The fate of the first place was decided in a shootout, where Liga Pro Team was more successful. Dmitry Myachev made the decisive throw.

“It turned out to be a real hockey festival. Liga Pro Team is a great opponent, the guys played cool in the simulator, and we fought on the ice. They were a little luckier. There was an amazing atmosphere in the tribunes, Kazan was simply mind-blowing! I’m sure the spectators were satisfied – what could be better than determining the champion in a shootout?” said Cosmos X17 striker Pavel Gorokhov. “Games of the Future has a wonderful format, unusual and innovative. We hope it will develop. The organization of the tournament is great, there are just no words, well done to everyone.”

“Emotions are overwhelming, we are the champions! I am very happy to become a participant and winner of this tournament, because the level here is incredibly high both on virtual ice and on real ice. It feels like it’s no worse than the World Championship. And the Opening Ceremony can be compared to the Olympics, it was cooler than in 2014 in Sochi! If phygital sports continues to develop, it will be very cool, especially for our younger generation,” Dmitry Myachev shared his emotions.

3rd-4th place match

Ak Bars vs. Baltic Select – 20:4 (6:1)

The game was played with complete dominance of the home team. Having gained a five-goal advantage in the digital part, the Bars continued to control the game on the ice. Daniel Nasybullin and Bulat Baykeev scored a hat trick each.

“Of course, I wanted to win gold at my venue, but it wasn’t enough. Phygital hockey is a very interesting format, everything here is organized at the highest level. I think the interest in Games of the Future is even higher than in the KHL playoffs! A lot of fans come to the matches, there is a lot of excitement. The team and I had a lot of fun participating, we had a blast. In my opinion, the symbiosis of digital and physical is the sport of the future,Daniel Nasybullin is sure.

“It was a great tournament, everything went great. It’s nice to play hockey in such an atmosphere. Everything was done very cool – the show, the presentation of the teams, and the format itself,” said Baltic Select hockey player Alisers Mubarakshins.
