The top three places in the YOTA Phygital MOBA. Dota 2 discipline were won by teams from China. The Trophy of Games of the Future was won by Xtreme Gaming, LGD Gaming was the second, and Invictus Gaming was the third. Both final matches of the tournament were held in front of crowded tribunes of the Kazan Expo IEC.
Finals
LGD Gaming vs. Xtreme Gaming – 0:2
On the first map of the finals, LGD Gaming took a hero who reveals himself in a late game and creates serious pressure on the opponent’s base – Naga Siren. Xtreme Gaming responded to this with the Sven hero, capable of inflicting huge damage on the area, which allows to nullify the advantages of Naga Siren. Thanks to the well-coordinated game and the incredible performance of Xtreme midfielder Hongcheng Xm Guo, LGD conceded defeat after the 40th minute.
At the draft of the second meeting, LGD again decided to make Naga Siren their key hero, but Xtreme responded with two of the strongest ranged characters – Medusa and Sniper. Well-coordinated play and good positions allowed the leaders of the match to complete the map by the 38th minute and secure victory at Games of the Future!
“I feel relieved now. The most difficult opponent was Azure Ray, because they were able to take the map from us. The fans from Kazan were hospitable, and now, after the victory, we will go celebrate with delicious local cuisine. See you at the next Games of the Future!” commented newly crowned champion Chunyu Ame Wang.
3d-4th place match
Invictus Gaming vs BOOM Esports – 1:2
The first map of the match for the third place turned out to be worthy of a big stage – 2.5 thousand spectators came to the final day. Invictus Gaming took Meepo as the key hero, who is able to quickly gain power and finish the game. But the Peruvians managed to bring down the pace of the opponent’s carry, which allowed the fight to be transferred into a late stage. The teams had successful battles several times, and at some point, IG reached the point of attacking the “bare” throne of the opponent, but BOOM were able to fight back and make a successful counterattack, which brought them victory.
On the second map, the Chinese athletes picked up the keys to the Peruvian game. After the lining, IG began to smash the opponents all over the map. By the 25th minute, the gold advantage had already reached 17 thousand, and the BOOM Esports base almost collapsed – at the 27th minute the Peruvians were forced to write gg.
In the decisive confrontation, IG took on the role of carry the Antimage hero, who is weak at the beginning, but gains serious strength by the middle and late game. The idea worked – the Chinese were disciplined in accumulating an advantage, and as a result they got a well-deserved third place.
“I’ve never been this far from home. Kazan is a cool city, interesting, though too cold for me. But the people are very nice: we came from the other side of the world, and they supported us a lot. I was at The International and I can say that I liked the organization of Games of the Future more. As for our performance, I cannot say that I am satisfied with the result. However, we are still a very young, insufficiently strengthened team. We will continue to prepare, we will prove ourselves,” said Mario ILICH– Romero Valdivia, BOOM Esports offlaner.
“We are not very happy with the performance, because we wanted to take a higher place. The main reason we couldn’t make it to the finals was the Chinese New Year. The team was in good shape before the holidays, and after that we just didn’t have time to gain momentum and power. BoBoka proved to be the best in our lineup,” said Invictus Gaming player Peng super Su. “I came to Russia for the first time, it is a very good country. We didn’t have much time to walk around Kazan, but we hope to do it the next day after the end of the tournament.”
