International diving competitions of the III stage Solidarity Games kicked off in Kazan.
The tournament named after the eminent Russian athlete Dmitry Sautin has brought together the divers from Russia, Argentina, Belarus, Ecuador, Serbia, Venezuela, Cuba, Armenia, and Uzbekistan. They will be contesting for the medals in individual and team events from 3m springboard and platform
The Opening ceremony was attended by the two-time Olympic champion and first vice-president of the Russian Diving Federation Dmitry Sautin, director of the Aquatics Palace Albert Bagautdinov, and deputy director general of the Directorate for Sports and Social projects Ranko Tepavcevic. Following the video address by the Russian Minister of Sport they all greeted the athletes and competitions guests.
“I’m delighted to welcome you all here in our beautiful Aquatics Palace. These competitions are devoted to the legendary diver Dmitry Sautin who has made a great contribution into the development of diving. It’s for a good reason that all the coaches and athletes respect him a lot. I’d like to wish all the participants to showcase the highest scores. I’m so glad to see you in Kazan! Good luck!” Albert Bagautdinov said.
“Just a couple of days ago “Solidarity Games” saw a world record in swimming. Our competitions go on having the legend with us – Dmirty Sautin. Let’s make new friends and may the strongest win!” Ranko Tepavcevic declared.
“It makes me so happy to attend the competitions bearing my name. I wish everyone success, good luck, and victories,” Dmirty Sautin addressed the participants.
Competitions will be running from 14 to 16 December in the Aquatics Palace.
