The Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace is situated on the bank of the Kazanka River, near the Millennium Bridge. The venue was constructed in the build-up to the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan.
The venue’s activities are aimed at preparing elite athletes, promoting martial arts and inspiring the maximum number of people to start practicing these sports. The Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace covers the following sports: Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, judo, sambo, koresh, belt wrestling, aikido, karate, taekwondo, Russian Native System of Self-Defense, Military Hand-to-Hand Self-Defense System, wushu, kendo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing and kickboxing.
The venue’s uniqueness lies in its multifunctionality. The Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace is equipped with all the facilities required for practicing different kinds of martial arts: 1 main multi-purpose hall with a seating capacity of 2,500 people, 3 training halls, gym, locker rooms with showers and bathrooms, sport rehabilitation centre with saunas.
The venue offers a variety of sports club options under one roof: Ak Bars Single Combat Sports Club, Martial Arts Centre, Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, Daria Sharova Dance Studio and X-Fit Fitness Club.
In 2013, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, belt wrestling and koresh tournament was hosted at the Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace as part of the 27th Summer Universiade. The venue played host to a number of international competitions such as the European U23 Fencing Championships (2011), European Taekwondo Qualification Tournament (2012), World Belt Wrestling and Koresh Championships (2015), Russian Federation President Weightlifting Cup (2016), International Sambo Tournament for Prizes of President of Republic of Tatarstan (2017-2019, 2021, 2022). Tournaments in aikido, karate, taekwondo, koresh and judo are held at the venue on a regular basis.
In 2023, the Russian Koresh Belt Wrestling Championship, Ak Bars Cup International and All-Russian Karate Competitions, Phygital Games 7 (phygital fighting: console game + MMA) and other sporting events were held at the Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace.
