Women’s quarterfinal pairs are known at Epee of Kazan
The participants in women’s team tournament in epee fencing are defined for the quarterfinal matches. A total of 25 teams entered the competitions, and teams from China, Russia, and Poland were in the top three. All these teams eventually made it to the quarterfinals, and they will be joined by the fencers from France, the Republic of Korea, Italy, Hungary, and Estonia.
Seed leaders were exempt from the first round where the tensest fights occurred between the team of Brazil and Egypt (42:44), Spain and Canada (41:45). Romanian female fencers nearly sprang a surprise having led the Korean team for a long while, but the winner of the individual events Choi Injeong who brought a victory to her team.
The Chinese swept Hungary (45:32), the team of France was stronger than Germany (45:29), while the Russian team was superior to the Japanese team – 38:28. Estonia handled the Ukrainians (45:33), Poland – Canada (45:25), and Hungary – the USA (45:37).
