On March 19-23, Kazan will host “Kazan Épée” Leg of the Fencing World Cup among men and women. It is the final qualifying tournament in the pre-Olympic selection. Its results will determine the entry list (athletes and teams) of the Tokyo Summer Olympics to be held in Tokyo from July 23 to August 8.
About 400 athletes from 40 countries of the world will arrive in the capital of Tatarstan. Russia will be represented by the strongest Russian épée fencers: Sergey Bida, the world ranking leader, individual event silver medal-winner of the 2019 World Championship; his teammates in the national team – Pavel Sukhov, Sergey Khodos, Nikita Glazkov, the winners of the team event at the European Championships, prize-winners of the Russian, European and World Championships in the individual events three times in a row, from 2017 to 2019; Tatiyana Gudkova the world champion in the individual event in 2017, Lyubov Shutova and Tatiyana Andryushina the world champions in the team events.
The tournament will be held at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre. To obtain accreditation, media representatives shall submit a completed accreditation form and a photo no later than March 2, 2021 to the e-mail: accreditation@dspkazan.com.
