Tamerlan Bashaev brought the Russian team the fourth gold and 15th team medal on the third day of Kazan Grand Slam 2021. In the men’s + 100kg final, the 2020 European title holder managed to beat Rafael Silva of Brazil, defeating his opponent in extra time.

Arman Adamyan had chances for another gold medal for the Russian national team, but in extra time of the final fight in the men’s -100kg category he lost the title to Simeon Catharina of the Netherlands. Bronze medals went to Niyaz Bilyalov and Korean Cho Guham.

Sanshiro Murao of Japan earned third gold for his national team. The 20-year-old judoka defeated Germany’s Eduard Trippel by ippon.

Following results of three competition days, the Russian national team won four gold, six silver and five bronze medals. Team Japan has three gold and one bronze, France has two gold and one silver.
