An artistic swimmer from the Russian national team topped the solo free.

The pool of Kazan’s Aquatics Palace is truly lucky for Daria Kirsanova. In 2020 she triumphed here in the Russian championships, January 2021 brought her gold medal at the national competition, and two days before the world series leg she won two more golds to her collection. After Friday’s victory in solo technical, Daria came first in the solo free as well with the result of 90.7000 points. Sofija Dzipkovic from Serbia was second with 76.9000 points, and bronze medal went to Kris Kuleva from Bulgaria (75.2333).

“Both programmes were performed for the first time at the senior international tournament, and Dasha did well. I am so happy the competitions came around. We will rectify the mistakes. It is important to perfect the performance by the main starts so that everyone likes her and she gets high scores. We stay in Kazan for the Russian championships and keep on polishing the programme, shared the eminent Russian athlete Maria Kiselyova, Daria’s coach and mum.

These are the first international competitions in my life, and it makes me happy and contented. I started working on my programme this year. In my performance, I wanted to show the way I handle the fears and hardships. I’m glad I have come to Kazan, noted Sofija Dzipkovic.

The second Russian national team managed to win over the main Japanese team. The champions’ delight knew no bounds – they outstripped the strongest team having perfectly performed their programme. The winners pulled away just a little and got the winning 93.4667 points against 93.1667. Team Kazakhstan took bronze (81.9000).
