The fifth anniversary of the FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy will be be held from September 8-10 on the sidelines of the Russia – Country of Sports Forum.
Due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection COVID-19 and the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the world, it was decided to hold the event in an online format. Despite the online format of the Academy, it is planned that this year’s educational programme will be as eventful and enriching as of the previous Academies’. Registration of participants and accreditation for the event are open in the FISU online accreditation system and on the official website of the project.
The introductory block of sessions will be held in the IT Park in Kazan. The sessions will include an introduction to the International University Sport Federation (FISU) and the FISU Student Ambassadors programme. In September, agenda of the event will consist of educational lectures and workshops from experts. As a result of the successful completion of the educational intensive, the Academy participants will be awarded the status of the FISU Student Ambassadors.
It is expected that the September sessions will be attended by more than 130 participants from 116 national and 5 continental university sport federations, guests, alumni of the programme, as well as representatives of the organising committee of the future 2023 Summer World University Games in Ekaterinburg. The participants of the event will uphold the ambassadors’ tradition of continuity by helping their national federations during the 2021/2022 season following the action plans that they will develop together in September, and then each individually present it to the FISU in October 2021.
The founders of the Academy are FISU and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. The General Partner of the event is the leading mining and metallurgical company of the Russian Federation, Norilsk Nickel — one of the world’s largest producers of nickel and palladium. The company has been showing a long lasting and comprehensive support of the Russian sports, and is highly interested in the development of the university and youth sports.
The Russia – Country of Sports Forum is the largest platform for interaction between representatives of sports industry, established in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 2009. Annually, it brings together over 300 Russin and international speakers. This year’s edition is held under the slogan ‘Territory of Sports. Territory of Victories’.
The FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy is an educational event serving as a key element of the international sports and volunteer movement. Traditionally, the Academy is held in the capital of youth and the volunteer movement of Russia, the host of the 2013 World Summer University Games – in a hospitable city of Kazan. Throughout its history, up to 500 representatives of national and continental sports federations have taken part in the project.
