The All-Russian Football Competitions for Universities of Volga Federal District kicked off on 6 June 2013, exactly a month prior to the start of the 27th Summer Universiade. The matches took place at two football stadiums of the Games – Trudovye Rezervy and Olymp – and ran until June 12.
Eight football teams from Samara, Saransk, Orenburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Kazan and Izhevsk, consisting of 160 players, came together to compete for the trophy. 40 referees officiated the tournament.
