The Russian Diving Championships was staged  at the Aquatics Palace, Kazan (70 Sibgata Khakima St.) on May 3-7, 2017. The tournament brought together 160 divers from 14 regions of the Russian Federation.

About championships

Due to its well-developed sports infrastructure, Kazan was more than once selected to host a number of water sports events of national and international level. The tournament took place at the Aquatics Palace, one of the largest indoor sports venues in Russia, where the world’s brightest diving stars previously hunted for medals of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series.

During the competition, the divers performed dives from the 1m and 3m springboard and from the 10m platform. Titles will were up for grabs in the individual, synchro, mixed and team events.

The national championships was staged with the purpose of promoting the sport of diving in the country, as well as selecting members for the Russian national diving team for the 2017 European Diving Championships in Kiev (UKR) and FINA World Championships 2017 in Budapest (HUN) which is this year’s most expected event in the world of aquatic sports. The results of the championships are also considered while creating the roster for the 2018 Russian national team.

Competition results

Divers from Penza topped the medal table with 7 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medal; they were followed by competitors from Moscow ( 5-5-4); and the divers from Saint Petersburg were third (3-1-1). Representatives of Tatarstan were on fifth place.
