In June-July 2018 Kazan hosted the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ matches alongside with other 11 host cities. The Kazan Arena Stadium played stage to the matches. It is the first football stadium in Russia constructed in the build-up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.
Six matches were played in Kazan:
- 16 June, 13:00 France – Australia: 2-1
- 20 June, 21:00 IR Iran – Spain: 0-1
- 24 June, 21:00 Poland – Colombia: 0-3
- 27 June, 17:00 Korea Republic – Germany: 2-0
- 30 June, 17:00 Round of 16 France – Argentina: 4-3
- 6 July, 21:00 Quarterfinal Brazil – Belgium: 1-2
As all the other host cities, Kazan hosted the FIFA Fan Fest from 14 June to 15 July 2018. The territory of the Kazan Family Centre played stage to the event. The FIFA Fan FestTM featured the live broadcast of the tournament matches, concerts, and lounge zones.
