Today, on Youth Day, a test-drive of Russia’s largest extreme park URAM, which wll host the first All-Russian Urban Games, was carried out in Kazan.
This extreme sports centre is found under the Millenium Bridge. It was inspected by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and the Tatarstan Minister of Youth Affairs Damir Fattakhov.
The new extreme park includes 8 areas: a skate park, two pump tracks for beginners and experts, workout and parkour sites, a streetball court, an air park and training zones.
URAM is Russia’s largest extreme park. It has a total area of 1.9 ha. Given the current sanitary and epidemiological environment, the test-drive was held without any spectators and in full compliance with every security measure.
Rustam Minnikhanov examined the competition venues, talked to athletes and asked for their opinion on the new space for the youth. The athletes commended the URAM’s infrastructure, recognising the Kazan park as one of the best in the world.
“Despite certain limitations, today we celebrate Youth Day at this wonderful site. Its construction is almost complete; test competitions are now being held. Nearby we’re building an indoor park for people to train in winter as well. We must provide our youth with every facility they need. Even I feel young around here,” said the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
URAM extreme park will open to the public in summer once the epidemiologic situation becomes more stable and all maintenance, preparatory and commissioning works are completed.

In 2018, the URAM urban arts movement began in Tatarstan. In 2019, its representatives asked Rustam Minnikhanov to open a modern extreme park under the Millenium Bridge, and gained the President’s support. The project was developed based on the street movements’ suggestions.
The construction of another extreme park under the Millenium Bridge is now underway as well. This indoor park will serve as a centre for Tatarstan’s youth communities. There, young people will be able to practice street art and extreme sports all year round.
Between 17 and 21 September 2020, Kazan will host the first All-Russian Urban Games. The Games’ programme includes competitions in 11 sports: basketball (3×3), dance sport (breaking), cycling (freestyle BMX), parkour, roller sport, cheer sport, air power athletics (workout), football freestyle and skateboarding. It also includes two exhibition performances – teqball and rope skipping.
