The Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the Special Olympics of Russia initiated the all-Russian contest for designing the logo of the 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Kazan. The Directorate for Sports and Social Projects acts as the organizer of the contest.
Individuals aged 16 and above are eligible for participation in the contest. The winner of the contest will receive a monetary prize of ₽100 000.
Entries are accepted from 3 to 30 September 2020 via e-mail at konkurs@dspkazan.com.
During the qualification phase from 1 to 9 October 2020 the entries will be checked against the contest criteria, then the contest commission will shortlist three (3) to five (5) best design projects with maximum votes. The commission is to perform the final evaluation of the design projects and define the winner before mid-October 2020.
The contest commission includes representatives of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan, member of designer community, public figures and Tatyana Baranova, the Ambassador and athlete of the Special Olympics. The commission is headed by the President, Olga Slutsker, Chairman of the Board of the Special Olympics.
The final phase of the contest embraces also the announcement of results, awarding a signing an agreement on the alienation of the exclusive right for the design project with the winner.
To recap, the 2022 Special Olympics World Winter Games will take place in Kazan on 22–28 January and are to be the first international event under the umbrella of Special Olympics International in Russia.
Special Olympics World Winter Games will include competitions where 2000 athletes and unified partners (athletes without intellectual disabilities) from 108 countries will take part. They will be joined by around 3000 volunteers and 4000 honourable guests and members of their families to make the event truly large-scale.
The Special Olympics World Winter Games is one of the most prestigious sporting events aimed at creating a truly inclusive world for people with intellectual disabilities. The World Games also provide an important platform for the functioning of the Special Olympic movement in the areas of healthcare, education and leadership for athletes.

About the Russian Special Olympics
Special Olympics Russia was founded in 1999 and is one of the largest national programs within the movement. In Russia there are about 130000 athletes with intellectual disabilities. Within the program of the Special Olympics about 5000 sporting events are organized for them annually on municipal, regional and federal levels. Today regional departments are functioning in 62 of the regions of Russia. Every year, Russian athletes with intellectual disabilities participate in international Special Olympic events and take leading positions.
