Kazan’s Aquatics Palace hosted the Opening Ceremony of the II stage “Solidarity Games” international swimming competitions.

Opening ceremony was attended by the First deputy minister of sport of the Russian federation Azat Kadyrov, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the eighth convocation, member of the Physical Culture and Sports Committee Rustam Kalimullin, President of the Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov, Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov, Rector of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism Rafis Burganov, and President of the Tatarstan Swimming Federation Renat Nugaybekov.

“On behalf of the Russian Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin, let us welcome you to this wonderful “Solidarity Games” celebration of sport. This is a remarkable competition that brings together sports fans from many countries and all continents. We would like to thank the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, all organisers for the opportunity to be holding these events. We wish the athletes easy water, and spectators – unforgettable emotions,” Azat Kadyrov said.

II stage of the “Solidarity Games” swimming competitions has gathered 1,146 swimmers from 22 countries. Two cups will be awarded to the best athletes by FINA points. The tournament purse amounts 3.14 mln rubles.

“It is a great joy and honour for us to be hosting the second series of the “Solidarity Games”. Many thanks to everyone who came to our country, to Kazan – these are the representatives of 22 countries, which is a very significant, even unique number. Thank you to all our partners – Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, Russian Swimming Federation, and everyone who helped to organise this tournament. Let’s enjoy a beautiful swim and look forward to amazing results. Happy swimming holiday everyone!” Vladimir Leonov announced.

Opening Ceremony spectators were shown a rich performance featuring the artists of the “Mgnovenie” and “Saydash” dance theatres along with the folk choir of the Kazan State Institute of Culture and singer Karina Ziganshina. Multimedia drop of water headlined the show embodying the core values of sport and harmonious life.

“Everybody wants to savour the show of sports struggle, athletes – to demonstrate best results, and fans – to cheer up!” Vladimir Salnikov told having declared the swimming competitions of the II stage “Solidarity Games” open.

“Solidarity Games” is international competitions in swimming, artistic swimming, and diving held in Kazan throughout July-December 2022. I stage “World” successfully went on 19 July – 3 August having gathered 984 athletes and 237 teams from 16 countries with 376 sets of medals awarded. II stage runs from 10 to 25 November.
