Alexander Egorov becomes national champion in men's 800 m freestyle

Today, the 800 m freestyle race was held on the third competition day of the Russian Swimming Championships in Kazan. Alexander Egorov from Moscow won the race, finishing the distance at 7:54.63.

Anton Nikitin from St. Petersburg took silver (7:57.29), while Yaroslav Potapov from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Yugra) came third (7:59.21).

The day completed with the 4×100 m medley freestyle relay. A team from St. Petersburg finished first at 3:27.35, setting a new Russian record for young swimmers. The previous record was set by the Russian national team back in Budapest in 2017.

The St. Petersburg team included Alexander Shegolev, Darya Tatarinova, Andrey Minakov and Alexandra Bykova.

A team from the Novosibirsk Oblast that came second at 3:29.89 was comprised of Daniil Markov, Darya Trofimova, Maxim Ablovatsky and Ekaterina Nikonova.

A team from Moscow that won bronze and came at 3:29.96 included Daniil Shatalov, Varvara Chemisova, Vladislav Grinev and Elizaveta Susorova.
