Teams from St Petersburg win men’s and women’s relays at the Russian Swimming Championships

Today, within the evening programme of the Russian Swimming Championships, two relay swims took place. Both were won by representatives of St. Petersburg.

In men’s freestyle 4×100 m relay team St Petersburg finished with the result of 3:16.62. The team was represented by Alexander Shchegolev, Alexander Fedorov, Andrey Minakov. “We are happy to be back and swim a relay together, because it has been a long break. We had been training all together and at last got an opportunity to swim a relay,” said the athletes after the event. “Today all the guys did a good job, everything went perfect.”

Silver medals went to athletes from Moscow – Vladimir Dubinin, Mikhail Dovgalyuk and Vladislav Grinev with a 3:16.94. The third step of the podium was occupied by representatives of Novosibirsk region – Daniil Markov, Arseniy Desyatov, Maksim Ablovatsky and Aleksandr Borovtsov. They set a time of 3:20.14.

Women’s freestyle 4×200 m relay was won by athletes from St Petersburg (8:07.53). The team was represented by Aleksandra Bykova, Yana Sattarova, Aleksandra Khaylova, Polina Nevmonenko. According to the athletes you can only better the results by means of hard training and lots of new starts. “This win gives motivation to go on and confidence that everything will work out,” they say.

The second place was taken by team Sverdlovsk region (8:12.05) represented by Mariya Tagiltseva, Darya Mullakayeva, Eleonora Klipenshteyn and Viktoriya Salamatina.

Bronze went to team Novosibirsk region (8:12.46): Ekaterina Nikonova, Darya Trofimova, Aleksandra Kichigina and Viktoriya Starostina.
